Milwaukee Harbor Lights Room
December 31, 1969
We are so fortunate to have so many great wedding venues in the Milwaukee area. I thought you might like to hear about a place that probably isn’t as well known. I coordinated a wedding reception at The Harbor Lights Room. It is on the top floor of the Milwaukee Transit Center on the corner of Michigan and Lincoln Memorial Drive. There are lots of windows that overlook Lake Michigan and have a great view of the Milwaukee Art Museum.
The exclusive food and beverage rights belong to Ellen Zilli’s and so you are assured of having wonderful food whether you select hors d’oeuvres, a buffet or a sit-down dinner. They advertise the room as seating 300, but that would be very tight. I think it is a perfect space for 175 to 200—you wouldn’t have to put tables on the dance floor.
There is a really nice garden terrace that works well for the cocktail hour and Zilli’s will set-up the bar outside. They will also tent the Terrace if you want to use it for a ceremony or dinner. The terrace has great views of the lake and is high enough to miss most of the traffic noise from the streets below.
There is a large parking garage on the property and you can obtain parking vouchers for your guests. The Harbor Lights Room is just one of several nice venues owned by the Milwaukee County Park System.
