Being able to write calligraphy is a skill not a lot of people possess. Western calligraphy dates back to 600B.C when the Romans would scribble capital letters on walls. Chinese calligraphy dates back to some 220BC and was used by monks and priests. Needless to say, it is an ancient tradition and has been carried on through the years. Modern calligraphy can be easily duplicated by our modern technology of today with computers, but finding someone that still had writes calligraphy is a special treat. If you are looking to send out elegant invitations that guests will still be talking about the day of the wedding, getting them hand written is the way to go. First, you’ll need to sit down with a calligraphist and choose a font. All calligraphy fonts aren’t the same, so make sure you choose carefully. Next you would choose your paper. Since you are going to go with hand written calligraphy, go with an equally exquisite paper, like a 300lb textured paper for the inset, with several other coordinating papers to go along with it. As discussed here, calligraphy writing is an ancient art still practiced today. My Party Planner has a large list of calligraphy writers in your area, so please feel free to search our directory and get in touch with one of the best in the country. Just type in calligraphy then your city and state (ex: Houston, Texas or Houston, TX) and you will be on your way to gorgeous wedding invitations!
