Ministers obviously play an important part in any wedding. However this does not imply that you can choose just any minister that you come across. You have to do some comparisons and research to choose the right minister for your wedding as the wrong choice can lead to a disappointing wedding ceremony. Here are some tips for choosing the right minister who will rightfully pronounce you man and wife.

The first thing you have to bear in mind is where you intend to have your wedding. If it is in a wedding facility, such as a church, usually the church's recommended minister has to minister your wedding. If you plan to bring your own wedding minister, you have to ask the church for permission as most of them don't allow this.

If you are not allowed to use your own minister, and you are not that comfortable with the senior minister of the church, you can always ask the associate, youth or any other minister you are comfortable with, to officiate your wedding.

Make sure you pay for the minister's services

Moreover, if you are getting married in a church under the church's minister, you will have to pay him for his services. The church wedding coordinator will tell you how much you have to pay.

However, if you are not getting married in a church, you have lots of options for your minister. You can ask your church minister if he or she will perform their services for you at your chosen wedding destination. You could also ask a freelance wedding minister for their services for your wedding.

Another option you have is to choose a local judge to perform your wedding at your chosen location. You can use the internet or the local courthouse to find your judge for your wedding.

Check the minister's certification

If you opt to use the services of a freelance wedding minister, you have to meet at least 2 or 3 of them before you make your choice. These ministers are capable of officiating your wedding, however you have to first be comfortable with them. If you don't like ministers cracking too many jokes during your wedding, avoid ministers who make too many jokes during your interview.

Don't forget to check the certification and references of the minister you finally choose. In addition to this, you have to get a contract signed by them that has all the details of your wedding rehearsal and wedding ceremony.

It is better to choose a minister who will let you choose the wording of your vows. You may want a vow with religious or romantic emphasis or perhaps a mix of the two. Or you may have your own ideas or wordings for your vow.

Last, but not least, you may have to opt for an experienced Minster as a novice minister may fumble through the wedding or leave some things out. There are quite a few experienced ministers for you to choose from not only in Detroit, Indianapolis, Jacksonville or California, but everywhere across the US.
