Classical Aisles is a violin duet that plays weddings and special events in the DuPage area. We (proprietors Stefanie and Charlene), first met playing in our college orchestra together. Years later we again met in a community orchestra and discovered we could share our love for music with others by teaming up as a duo. As violinists, we love to be called to Naperville because of its vast cultural diversity. From weddings at the quaint Memorial Chapel in Naper Settlement, to outdoor events on the Riverwalk – Classical Aisles is prepared to bring a venue from classical to 70’s and 80’s pop.
I think the most exciting part of being a violinist in the Naperville area, is the variety of musical requests. Each new request brings an opportunity to learn something new, as we arrange most special requests ourselves. Since our playing style is so similar, we tend to write in a similar manner and play off each other very well. So, when we get a request to play the Beatles hit “All You Need is Love” – we work together to create an arrangement for two violins that we can be proud to play. One of our earlier gigs was at a restaurant where we stood in the corner of a very small private room and played for 9 folks as they celebrated their parent’s 50th wedding anniversary. We were asked to play some tunes from Fiddler on the Roof – so we wrote an eleven page medley consisting of 4 of the popular tunes from the movie. Arranging our own music really lets us “feel the music”. We’ve played many weddings, parties and even a 3-hour retirement center “Grand Opening” in the area – so for a truly “Classy” party, look to “Classy”-cal Aisles!
