There is something to be said for wearing a costume. I’m not sure if it is because you are pretending to be someone or something else, or if it is because you are dressed totally different than you normally would be, but it just is so much fun! I love shopping for party costumes. I try to make every costume party I can, and at least once a year I throw a costume party because I love to dress up! Carnival costumes can be so wacky and silly, I love them, too! I remember seeing a lobster lady on Bourbon St. and I literally did a double take. You can really be anything and anyone you want to be for Carnival. It is a great way to just see lots of random costumes, that may or may not have anything to do with Mardi Gras or Carnival. There are also the Brazilian samba dancer’s costumes up for grabs – make sure you do your work out before rocking one of these itty bitty sparkly/sequined brightly colored fabric slices! Masks for Mardi Gras are also in the mix – masquerades are always a blast! Make sure the mask fits and that you can breathe – nothing like getting trapped behind an ill fitting mask, then having to take it off to enjoy yourself!
