I love throwing surprise parties. They are the most fun because you get to plan everything without them knowing and get to see them when you yell surprise. I think that’s the thing that does it for me – to see the birthday person’s face when they realize it’s a party for them. It’s a pat on the back and a job well done when you can pull off a great surprise party. If you are looking for surprise party ideas, you’ve come to the right place! Some cool surprise party ideas that I’ve done in the past:
I had some friends take the birthday boy fishing while I set up a huge cookout/cocktail party for about 60 people. I had everyone park on the next block over. When he came back, he smelled like fish, but he was super surprised! Another one I did was a white party at a friend’s bar – he ended up showing up in blue jeans and a t-shirt, but it didn’t matter – he was really surprised and everyone had a blast.
Your surprise party invitations should scream “don’t tell” make sure you put on the invitation that it is a surprise party, and put the words don’t tell/don’t talk about it to make sure you keep it under wraps. I always send out invitations 2 weeks before the party to get interest going. The more the interest builds, the better the surprise…no one can tell the birthday person about the party, so by the time they are on their way, the anticipation is just killer!
