'60s Party Theme

Party with famous '60s icons at your psychedelic bash.  Costume ideas include Richard Nixon, Santana, Twiggy, The Beatles, Sonny and Cher, Elvis Presley, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Truman Capote, Diana Rigg, The Supremes, or the Rolling Stones.  Make your own costume with retro '60s fashions, such as bell bottoms, short shorts, tie-dye t-shirts go-go boots, ripped jeans, love beads, peace signs necklaces, neon glasses, hemp bags, afros, headbands, fringed vest, etc. Hippie culture permeated the '60s, so dress in a Hippie costume available online or at a party store.

Give your party space a psychedelic vibe with aromatherapy candles and incense, colored lightbulbs, beaded curtains, large beanbag chairs, smiley face balloons, and lava lamps.  Hang smiley face, yin yang posters and peace signs.  Relive the political era with protest signs in the frontyard. Buy a swirl design or "Flower Power" ultra violet backdrop for a groovy feel. Hang Andy Warhol art throughout the room. Place anti-Vietnam protest signs on your front lawn that say "Make Love Not War!"
 
Play a smashing '60s movie or a movie that was set in the '60s, like "Apollo 13" or "Austin Powers."  Guests will dig watching classic TV shows like "The Brady Bunch." Screen the popular James Bond films from the '60s. See who can remember the '60s best with '60s trivia!  Get down to '60s tunes from The Who, The Grateful Dead, The Beatles, or Bob Dylan.

Guests will be all smiles with a goodie bag full of smiley face stickers, glow-in-the-dark bracelets, and love beads. Give a daisy to each guest as he or she arrives at the party.

No '60s bash is complete without the fondue! Buffalo wings, Life cereal, and pop tarts were all introduced in the 1960s.  Stay true to the hippie spirit with veggie burgers, granola bars, and nuts.
