Arabian Nights Party Theme
Flash back to era of caravans, the majestic castles of sultans, extravagant parties.
Costumes ideas include Aladdin, a genie, a belly dancer, a harem princess with plenty of veils, a snake charmer, a gypsy, a crusader, or a prince, king, or sultan.
Send out initiations in the shape of a genie’s lamp. Or, buy Arabian-themed invitations.
Host the party in extravagant in the backyard. Set an Arabian mood by placing oil lamps, incense, and candles throughout. Make a large sitting area using throw rugs and cushions. Play Middle Eastern music for the night. Use rich red, orange, and gold tones for balloons and streamers. Decorate with Arabian bazaar market items such as baskets, rugs, and feather fans. Create a Saharan desert oasis with a water feature surrounded by sandboxes and fake palm trees. Create the illusion of Arabian nights by hanging stars and a crescent moon from the ceiling or ropes.
Serve an exotic feast with grapes, carrot sticks, meat platters, Turkish breads and an assorted array of dips. Pita bread, beans, dried fruits and nuts were all popular foods for desert nomads.
Hire a belly dancer to entertain the crowd. If possible, acquire a camel, goat and horse from a petting zoo for the party and offer camel animal rides to guests. Play the “Aladdin” movies to entertain the little ones. Hire Arabian musicians to enchant the crowd with music.
Set up a cozy tent with pillows and snacks for a private screening of "Arabian Nights."
Give guests a basket full of oils and candles as party favors.
