Countries and Cultures Party Theme
Invite your guests to go on a trip around the world!
Set up different party areas or rooms with a different theme for places around the world. Decorate each with the country’s flag, favorite foods, unique items, and travel brochures and posters.
Create an Italian villa room. Post two Italian flags next to the entrance to the space. Adorn the tables in red, white, and green linens with matching Italian theme dinner plates, cups, and napkins. Place books of Rome, Naples, Milan and Venice on each table for guests to learn more about Italy. Serve delicious pasta dishes, breadsticks, garlic bread, and salads. Popular Italian dishes include fettuccine, spaghetti with meatballs, ravioli, linguine, and stuffed manicotti.
Next, head to Ireland. Set up Irish flags, decorations, shamrocks, leprechaun cutouts, and a pot of gold. Place Ireland travel book and brochures on each table and inspire guests to learn more. Serve Irish stew, corned beef, cabbage, and baked potatoes. Gulp it down with Irish beer or whiskey and soda for the kids.
Travel to Morocco for a great sultan’s feast. Set up a Moroccan tent with colorful rugs, feather fans, pillows and candles. Hire Belly dancers to perform traditional dances for guests or provide belly dancing lessons. Hire henna artists to adorn guests with traditional body art. Rent hookahs for the adults guests. Play Moroccan music in the background throughout the party. Serve Moroccan favorites like tangine chicken, lamb kebabs on couscous; and chopped salad with chickpeas and lentils. Green tea with mint is a popular Moroccan drink
Cross the sea to Mexico for a fiesta. Wear your panchos, boots, and sombreros and you’ll fit right in! Set up tables with red, white and green table covers and paper flower bouquets. Set up Mexican flags with red, white, and green streamers and balloons. Don’t forget the piñata full of candy! Serve a traditional Mexican feast complete with enchiladas, tacos, rice and beans, or tostadas. Fill a sombrero tray with plenty of chips and beans or guacamole too!
Next stop on your world tour is China and neighboring Japan. Hang red paper lanterns, origami shapes, lights and streamers. Hand out fortune cookies to each party guests as they enter China. Serve a Chinese or Japanese buffet with fried rice or noodles, Kung Pao chicken, wontons, Sushi or other Japanese favorites such as teriyaki chicken, rice with steamed vegetables, and vegetable egg rolls. Encourage guests to eat with chopsticks. Sip Chinese teas along with the meal. Oriental themed paper, cups, napkins and decorations can be purchased at a party store or use authentic china.
Last stop on the party train is India. Hand out traditional Indian clothing to guests as they enter. Hang a Taj Mahal backdrop and Indian flag. Decorate in yellow, white, and green streamers and balloons. Since much of India’s population is Hindu, paste photos or statues of Hindu gods and goddesses.
