Masquerade Party Theme
Bright lights over a dance floor, extravangant costumes, and decorations in emerald, gold, and purple create the perfect scene for a Masquerade ball.
These social gatherings were traditionally about hiding one's identity for the night. They were often set as a game among guests to mingle and dance to the music of a chamber ensemble or jazz band, while trying to figure out who is who.
Proper attire includes feathered boas, fans, glittered masks, and 15th to 18th century ball gowns for the ladies, while men should wear powdered wigs, top hats, eyemasks on a stick, patent leather shoes and tuxedoes with long tails. Reign over the crowd with an elegant Masquerade Queen costume, or be the Masquerade joker.
Masquerade balls became popular in 15th century Italy, so enjoy an aItalian feast consisting of pastas, salads, breads, and wine.
Dinner tables should be elegantly dressed in gold linens with flower arrangements in the center of each. Set each place with gold-trimmed china, crystal flutes, and gold cloth napkins. Masquerade theme tableware is also available online or at a party store. Sprinkle glitter on each table for a flashy look.
