The Austin Klezmorim
Bubbas from the steppes of Texas
Founded in 1979 the Austin Klezmorim are the oldest klezmer band in the Southwest. They have performed concerts and festivals throughout the U.S. and hosted workshops and master classes at numerous colleges and universities.
Their music is a mix of old, traditional, modern, and original klezmer as well as a touch of jazz, and Texas music. 361 215 7163 is our cell
Leader, trumpeter, and vocalist Bill Averbach injects humor and anecdotes about the music and history behind the pieces played. He references jazz of the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s and even cartoon music while tying everything together utilizing some of the finest musicians in Texas and Texas music.
The Austin Klezmorim is currently on the Texas Commission for the Arts Touring Artist Roster which offers matching funds to eligible presenters. If you are interested in finding out more about this program please contact us.
