Established by 30 artists from Cambridge and the greater Boston area, the Cambridge Artists' Cooperative, www.CambridgeArtistsCoop.com, is a gallery of fine craft. It has been operating in the heart of Harvard Square since 1989.
In addition to work by the members, the gallery features handmade crafts from over 250 local and national artists. Currently, the cooperative is made up of five members and nine volunteers whose presence in the store is refreshing in an increasingly impersonal world.
The Cooperative's mission is to present high-quality American craft for sale, to promote an appreciation of original handmade items, and to provide an opportunity for artists working in different media to interact. As a result of these efforts, Cambridge Artists' Cooperative was awarded Niche Magazine Top Retailer of American Crafts 2006.
