While I've seen many great reviews for Mr. Crandall, I was referred to Judy, who was unfortunately unavailable for my date and "Reverend" Greg Pratt picked up the phone when I called the CRS. Basically, it was awful. Here's the email I sent him post-wedding:
"-From the first phone call, I was put off by how I had to pull a price range out of you. It doesn't seem unfair that I should know what to expect before you ask me to put forth precious gas and time to meet you. Your prices are not unreasonable for the area. In the future, letting customers know your price range is a perfect way to screen people who are not willing to pay your fee anyways rather than pushing them to meet you so you can sell them in person.
-You also quoted me a beginning price of $275, which I understand is for the bare minimum, however, you did NOT even mention this at our meeting. Instead you pushed us straight for the $350 CUSTOM wedding, which was fine, but I am not stupid, and I shouldn't have to ask you why you originally quoted me $275+ and then not explain to me my options as if the option were not there. Basically, I feel as if you told me one thing over the phone and then omitted it at the meeting until I asked.
-I understand you were some kind of salesman in a past life? You completely misread me at the meeting in your focus on getting your spiel out. I wasn't pleased at being forced to go along with your script about how OUR wedding is all about me. I was more than happy to hire you, have you hand your "CUSTOM" script over and to go through it myself, rather than to listen to you expound on every possible feature. I listened out of politeness, despite trying to indicate that it wasn't necessary.
-Next, despite your salesy guarantee of how easy it would be to get things moving, it took almost A WEEK get a signed contract back from you. I do not underestimate that you are a busy man, but neither do I have the time to be worrying about whether you are going to give me a contract. Perhaps you are over committing yourself, since you promised to call me and did not, you lagged on sending documents and were not prompt in general.
-And yes, I hired you. I was in unfortunate circumstances, and I hired you. But that is no reason I should be taken advantage of or not given what I was promised and what I paid for.
-We paid for your CUSTOM wedding, in which you had a "menu" and we were free to choose what we wanted and did not want said. Justin and I spent time to go through your script and adjust it as we saw fit to create a wedding that was true to us. You said you had received it and would call if you had questions and I did not receive a phone call, which indicates that you understood what you were sent (or did you read it at all?)
-You were late to our wedding, which I was willing to forgive since guests were still coming, however I notice your contract bills us $250 if we start 16 minutes late. You did not account for being able to find the place which we'd had the impression you'd worked at before, so I should bill you!
-Finally, the biggest insult. Not two seconds after you had opened your mouth, it was painfully obvious that you had decided to ignore the CUSTOM wedding you'd offered us, and that we'd sent you, in favor of being able to say whatever YOU wanted to say. There were entire parts of your ceremony that we had specifically and intentionally deleted which you FORCED upon us anyways. For a specific example, we deleted your explanation of what love is. Had I needed one, I would not have had a wedding. I was visibly upset throughout the ceremony and left at your mercy, how could I possibly stop you? My groom and many close family and friends who know us well were not impressed at all at your delivery which reeked of insincerity. In the end, I feel as though I had paid you, not for a CUSTOM wedding, but so you could enjoy hearing yourself talk.
In summary:
We paid promptly, sent back the contract in a timely manner, and reviewed your ceremony as asked, fulfilling our part of this business transaction.
You did not deliver a CUSTOM wedding. We saw you include many things we had intentionally deleted.
At this point, I feel I could only be thankful that you showed up and that you signed our license. Every picture of you in our ceremony is a reminder of our dissatisfaction. Please think of that, as I would appreciate some restitution.
-I have learned from the friends of ours who were good enough to take care of this, that it is the responsibility of the officiant to mail the signed license. After the wedding I asked if you were responsible for this and you handed it back and said we should take care of it. This issue now falls under the legal definition of negligence. I expect a response."
In keeping with his character, he has not responded. DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN. |
