Drawing musical inspiration from the legendary artists of the 60's, 70's, and 80’s, The Crossroads Band is shaking up honkytonks and entertaining audiences across the South. Specializing in Classic and Southern Rock, Texas Blues and Outlaw Country, Crossroads' repertoire is made up of over 450 of the best tunes by nearly 200 different artists from the last half-century. They entertain audiences in any type venue from small taverns, supper clubs, dance halls, to large outdoor events and private parties. Crossroads can please any group, keeping the crowd on their feet and singing along, no matter the age or musical preference.
Crossroads formed in early 2004, when each of the long time friends, for the first time, found each other available and looking for a gig at the same time. It was only logical to form a new group since they had all played together in other bands, on and off for over ten years, but never all together. Each member of Crossroads is a serious, professional musician with many years experience in the music business.
Phil Matthews, bass guitarist and lead vocalist, has been all over the Southeast performing for the last twenty-five years. He has played all over Atlanta, including the 1996 Summer Olympics, seasonally at Calloway Gardens with the band Chaz, and did a few seasons at Six Flags with Obadiah Jasper. He then moved on to take the role of lead vocalist for The Bucks on the college circuit for two years. Phil played with Janelle Frost and Landslide in Birmingham and surrounding areas, as well as The Supplements based in Gadsden.
Greg Tolbert, lead guitarist and lead vocalist, has been performing with the areas hottest bands for over fifteen years. He cut his teeth on Van Halen and Stevie Ray Vaughn and today amazes true guitar lovers with his blazing riffs. An official member of the "Guitar of the Month" club, Greg can take any song, from any genre, and make it his own, and play it like you have never heard it before.
Greg played a few years with the legendary Night Owl. He also played with Janelle Frost and Landslide.
Mark Truett, drummer and vocalist, after many years of performing and teaching marching percussion, started playing in local club bands in 1991. Over the past fifteen years, Mark has been playing and recording with some of the areas best bands, opening shows for many national touring artists. Most of the early gigs were house bands, including Southbound at The Alabama Showpalace. He also played with Landslide (without Phil and Greg), and spent three and a half years in a reunion of Tin Pan Alley.
With Crossroads' extensive repertoire, it is possible to tailor every performance to suit the individual needs of the venue, making every performance unique. The talent, spontaneity and chemistry of this eclectic group make every performance a memorable event! Wherever you hear The Crossroads Band, you'll have a booty shakin', boot scootin', Southern style good time!
