Good Vibrations is the original San Francisco-based retailer women have trusted for nearly three decades to provide a comfortable, safe environment for finding sex-positive products and educational materials to enhance their sex life. Our Mission
Good Vibrations is a diverse, worker-owned, woman-focused retailer providing access to sex-positive products and accurate sex information through our clean and comfortable stores, catalog and web site in order to enhance our customersâ sex lives and promote healthy attitudes about sex.
Our Vision Statement
Good Vibrations strives to be an agent for social change, through the lenses of sexuality, diversity and alternative business practices. Both within our organization, and throughout the communities we serve and in which we live, Good Vibrations is committed to fostering respect, promoting supportive communication, providing access to educational resources and strongly advocating for women in leadership roles.
We make it a priority to employ and interact with individuals and organizations according to their skills, abilities and experience. We value diversity and embrace all manifestations of gender, orientation and consensual sexual expression in the fulfillment of our sex-positive mission. We are conscious of the roles that the race, class, age and the physical and emotional abilities of our workers and our communities play in the realization of that mission.
Good Vibrations tries to embody an internal structure within which every person's role is clearly defined, respected, and understood to be an integral part of the whole. We seek to provide our workers with the tools to develop excellent communication skills, cooperative and efficient work habits, and growth within their individual job descriptions. A stable and productive structure will enable Good Vibrations to focus on expanding our leadership position in the marketplace, where we are recognized as the preeminent authority in sex-positivity. A clear and forward looking business plan, diversification of our products and services, and the acquisition of capital from outside the organization are all key components in the fulfillment of our growth potential.
In addition to creating growth opportunities for its workers through ongoing skills training, Good Vibrations believes it is necessary to provide opportunities through individual financial enrichment. Our alternative business structure will include a mechanism for some disbursement of profit to workers, with the understanding that those whose labor created our financial well-being are entitled to accessing the fruits of that labor for their own financial health. A well-trained, appreciated, productive and financially healthy work force will be in the ideal position to fulfill our mission and bring our message of sex-positivity to the local, national and global community. |
