Psychedelic funk smashed head-on into roots rock and gave birth to the Marc Black Band...a classic group who's pedigree includes bringing the theramin to rock, playing lead guitar for the original Blues Magoos, drumming with Bob Weir's Kingfish and touring with the Doors.
Marc Black appears solo, trio or with a full band.
Marc recently was invited to perform at ASCAP's Music Cafe at Sundance Film Festival.
And his band recently performed at Levon Helms's Midnight Ramble.
The band consists of Warren Bernhardt (keyboardist from Steely Dan, and Simon&Garfunkel), Eric Parker (drummer with Joe Cocker, Steve Winwood, Little Feat, Bob Weir), Betty MacDonald, (legendary Woodstock jazz violinist), Don Davis (sax from the The Microscopic Septet), and on bass, bicycle wheel and theramin, Michael Esposito (original lead guitar for the Blues Magoos).
Besides playing his original music , Marc has a large repertoire of cover songs.

Marc Black's career has been a counter balance to our today's fast paced, corporate mentality. He decided early on to keep it local And he's been able to maintain his phenomenal band for thirty years. They've even been credited by Relix Magazine with "pre-saging today's jam band' scene with their improvisational performances." Marc has also included other great players, like Garth Hudson, Rick Danko, Richie Havens, PDQ Bach, Jack DeJonette, and John Sebastian, in his recording work.
On his latest CD, Stroke Of Genius, Art Garfunkel, John Sebastian, The Dixie Hummingbirds, Steve Gadd and Warren Bernhardt all perform with Marc. Red Eye Records will distribute. This CD is also the subject of a recent notable documentary film by Bahman Soltani.
Paul Winter (Paul Winter Consort) wrote about Marc, "His songs are great and his singing is superb."
Music News Nashville recently wrote: ".you will not add a more unique disc to your collection in 2006 than Stroke Of Genius. If you like music that makes you pause and think just a minute, Marc Black is for you!"
