Marimba Sol de Chiapas is the quartet specializing in the musical traditions of Mexico and Central America via a beautiful and enchanting authentic instrument from Chiapas, Mexico. Based in Kansas City since 1991, we perform in a variety of settings--both nationally and internationally--including conventions, concerts, receptions, parties, fundraisers, festivals, and more. Also, one of our specialties is our in-school program, "The Musics of Mexico," that takes students on a virtual musical tour of four of Mexico's best-known regional musical styles. Through a multi-media presentation (no special equipment required--the program is completely self-contained) that seamlessly integrates prerecorded music, a dazzling slide show, engaging commentary with extensive audience inter-action, and live musical performances, the rich culture, history, language, geography, and music of our closest, yet often very distant neighbors "south of the border" comes alive!!!
