| Description |
|
Beginning as a family farm on the Oregon Trail in 1854 and located between the Potwin Neighborhood and Downtown Topeka.
Old Prairie Town at Ward Meade Historic Site is a beautiful six-acre complex with a Victorian home, log cabin, turn-of-the-century town, plus a 2.5 acre botanical garden dedicated to preserving and sharing the early history of Topeka.
Unlike conventional parks that require visitors to provide their own amusement, Old Prairie Town staff and volunteers, guide visitors through the facilities.
Receptions, reunions, and tour groups from across the country are commonplace with volunteers serving pre-arranged meals in the elegant mansion, pioneer log cabin, livery stable, Preston Hale Reception Room. |
