Robert Sylvain and the Cajun Aces de Douce present a Portland-style take, complete with horn section, on classic Cajun material as brought to them by the original Deuce, fiddler Matthew Doucet, who returned to his native Louisiana two years after starting the band with Sylvain in 2004. The Aces pick up where the Deuce left off, with full blast crazy Cajun mayhem in every show.
Flanked by Portland music scene veteran Haakon "The Hawk" Kallweit on upright bass, Sylvain keeps the Cajun flame alive, along with fellow Douce disciple Marc Chillemi, who heads the horn section variously including Ryan Zoidis on sax and Eric Ambrose on Trombone. Add drums and percussion including frottir and les fers cheval, and you have unstoppable stomping cajun dance music. |
