About Me
I've been in the field of photography professionally since the late 1980s. In high school, I worked for a commercial photographer in Toronto, Canada. I've also taught photography at a summer camp, and my photographic work has appeared in a variety of local and regional publications, such as the Lompoc Record, Santa Maria Times, and Pacific Coast Business Times.
Unlike many "studio" photographers, I don't routinely use gigantic, heavy, expensive lighting equipment. Instead, I prefer to take advantage of the natural beauty of our Central Coast region, and to work on location.The lighting equipment I use is small and portable, and I use it to supplement and shape, rather than replace, natural light. I feel this gives my images a more natural, less "posed" feel.
About my style
I work in a photojournalistic, documentary style â like a journalist covering your wedding for a magazine. I strive to be as unobtrusive as possible so that people will act naturally and allow me to capture their real personalities, not staged images. I use Canon professional digital photography equipment. Retouching is done in Photoshop, so any image can be produced in color, black and white, or a variety of special effects. These digital images are then sent to a professional lab, where they are printed on standard photographic paper; or
alternatively, they can be made into Giclée prints on watercolor paper or âgallery wrapsâ on canvas.
