That is the founding belief of the artists at The Light Mill Film Studios, a group of highly motivated New York City based independent filmmakers. It is their belief that everyday life has deep and lasting meaning that is only truly revealed when given the attention of a filmmaker.
Armed with this mindset, The Light Mill filmmakers feel that there are few events in life more meaningful than a wedding. Deeply grounded in reality, with passion and emotional perspective, they do more than just capture events, they render them timeless.
Students of the documentary medium, the filmmakers at The Light Mill are creative, flexible and highly sensitive to the art of storytelling. Key interviews are gathered well in advance of the wedding to inform the wedding day shot selection and to pre-produce each unique storyline.
As a result of their story focus, they are extremely sensitive to the Heisenberg principle, which cautions that the act of observing an event actually changes it. Valuing subtlety and discretion, they seek genuine moments as opposed to staged performances. Also given their film backgrounds, the Light Mill artists are highly adaptable and resourceful, adept at using minimal equipment to maximum effect.
Through the use of candidly recorded natural audio, intimate first-person narratives, a contemporary and personalized score, and story driven visuals, a Light Mill film not only captures the essence of a couple’s story, but delivers to its client a film-festival quality, uniquely crafted, timeless work of art.
