YeaShOre sponsors Bonfires once or twice a month from spring to fall.
The Bonfires begin with Havdalah and people from different communities are invited to join together and sing, tell stories, eat, schmooz and play around a Bonfire into the night.
It is an attempt to bring together some of the different sectors in our community and to build stronger community. The idea is to build community in a time where so many people go to work and sit behind a screen and then go home to sit behind another screen. The Bonfires, and other events Yeashore does, give people a chance to gather and meet, but not in a meat market setting. People can sit up close to the Bonfire in the light and interact, or sit back in the flickering shadows if they are shy or feeling like observing.
We build community between people who might not have a chance to meet otherwise, as so many are locked into one group or another. Yeashore creates a space where they can meet and get to know one another.
We have been entertaining friends and strangers for over twelve years.
Even though winter is not Bonfire season, we continue to gather during the winter months.
We join other groups for indoor activities, such as singing Sea Chanties or storytelling, and more, including Snow Trips through the winter!!
Our events are attended by singles, couples and families. People from their teens to people in their 80s come regularly to the Bonfires and winter events. |
